Gardening Central
Rebranding

Ahead of a huge overhaul and big merger, Gardening Central requested a rebranding.

The requirements of the rebranding were simple. "Gardening" needed to be prominent. The identity itself needed to be simple, adaptable, versatile, and flexible.

We distilled the identity into a single entity designed to sit atop, and be complimented by, beautiful imagery.

Additionally, we've branded and been developing GardenBook (a social networking sister-site to launch soon). View both here.

eBooks take off!
By Daniel Baker

Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos has recently stated that Amazon now sells 6 e-books for every 10 physical books, largely thanks to Amazon's popular Kindle platform which is thought to have sold around 3 million units (Amazon are pretty tight-lipped on their sales figures).

When unveiling the iPad recently, Apple's Steve Jobs gave a back-handedly positive comment to Amazon, essentially saying that Amazon have done a great job pioneering eBook technology with Kindle, but "we'll take it from here guys." showing their intent with the iPad, which had already surpassed 3 million units in no time.

The launch of the iPad was the start of a huge push in the design and development of interactive eBooks, and with Apple (surprisingly) adopting an open-source format for its iPad books (ePub), the flood gates have been opened.

Looking ahead, it seem as though the the iPad is even going to be damaging to IKEA's revenue, with many people opting to carry their entire library around on a wafer-thin touch-screen called iPad, the traditional bookcase, and even library, may soon be a relic of humanity's past.

One wonders what may become of printed newspapers in a few years.

The biggest ripples thus far have been caused by 'Alice for the iPad' which has been hugely successful because of its interactive rejuvenation of the classic (now public domain) children's story.

And yes, our design services are available for the iPad.

The Apple iPad is now the 5th most popular mobile device, in terms of unique users (currently the iPhone is first).
